Friends of the environment and those who care for the natural heritage of our homeland,
On Kurdistan Environment Day, observed on April 16 each year, we deliver our message of environmental protection and reaffirm that safeguarding the environment is not merely a seasonal slogan for us, but a cultural, intellectual, and social strategic issue for Kurdish society. We must always remain “protectors of the environment” and continue our efforts to preserve this land, water, and air—our national wealth and the foundation of a healthy life.
Our organization recognizes the natural and ecological environment of Kurdistan as one of the essential pillars of sustainable development. Expanding green areas, continuing reforestation campaigns, protecting natural forests, and preserving water resources are among the most important factors in environmental protection. Giving proper attention to the management of this sector has always been at the forefront of positive change, and this requires cooperation and coordination from all, so that Kurdistan can become a model of environmental sustainability and well-being at the regional and global levels.
We pledge to work diligently, through our relevant institutions and active members, to implement the projects included in our plans and programs—especially those related to protecting Kurdistan’s environment, which is subjected daily, in the occupied areas, to environmental destruction by the Turkish state, as well as bombardment by drones and artillery by the Iranian state under various pretexts, leading to deliberate burning and devastation.
Let us all work together to leave a greener and healthier Kurdistan for future generations.
